Town and Country Animal Clinic in Hazard, KY has been a pretty awesome experience for me. My dog suffers from a genetic disorder that causes choking and I have not had a single problem with them taking great care not to feed him large treats or to give him access to a water bowl. He has very specific feeding instructions and I've known vets to ignore those just because they're a vet, they know best right? Anyway, this clinic greets me by name, knows and loves my dogs, takes care of my animals while I'm away, is always up front about prices, and hires knowledgeable and experienced vets. Since I've moved to the SE area, I've not met a group of people who truly care about their animals as much as this group does and I'm proud to say that as long as I live in this area, I will be going to Town and Country Animal Clinic for my boys.

This was my dog Daisy's first visit to Town and Country and we couldn't be more pleased. We have been to several vets who have treated us like a number and rushed us out the door in order to see the next patient. Dr. Ayres took his time and not only won over my normally reserved pup but truly made sure we understood his recommendations and what he was doing. Janet could not have been friendlier and made us feel so welcome. Our experience had us calling our relatives from out of town to brag about our exceptional town vet. We will definitely be back.

In general, the facilities are clean and state of the art (for the area anyway). Prices may be reasonable by another reviewer's standards, but they are from Michigan - for a low income area in Kentucky, the prices are astronomical. What truly earns them the one star review though is their policy and personality, PARTICULARLY JANET'S. Because of an HONEST MISTAKE of a deposit check for an emergency call being written on the wrong account, and therefore not having sufficient funds, she called me back (after giving one of her painfully fake pleasant update calls) and spoke to me in the tone one would reserve for a confrontation with their teenager, saying that "someone needs to come and make the check right, or pick up the animal." ...I see then. So, you & your husband, who are professed animal lovers, or who are at least supposed to care for them as your profession, would turn a confirmed dangerously ill animal away WITHOUT EVEN ATTEMPTING to discuss other arrangements for method of payment? Which, in my case, that was never truly an issue, simply AN HONEST MISTAKE (at 2:00 am, people aren't paying the most attention, especially after being scared out of their wits for a being that they care deeply for), but she never even thought to inquire of that, she just launched into a mildly restrained tirade. This is also despite the fact that I have a years old account with them in good standing that is in the thousands of dollars range. That is no absolute guarantee of my continued timely payment, I get that, that seems to be the criteria for offering people credit in general, such as auto loans, and as they know me in person, it should have been some sort of an indicator of my character, ability, and willingness to pay them. I suspected it was always about the money for them before, but this has confirmed it. I understand it is a business to an extent and that they must have funds to keep doing what they do, I am NOT contesting that in the least. I am simply admonishing her collection methods and people skills in general. Quite frankly, I will never be back to them after this fiasco and would advise others to do the same unless you simply like paying people to give your animal good, but cold, clinical, and impersonal treatment behind the scenes while pretending they care for you and your animal up front.

Dr. Chet and Dr. Janet are the nicest people you'll ever meet, and they practice great medicine too! They also are an AAHA accredited clinic which shows their dedication to the veterinary industry. You'll never have to worry about taking your pets here because they are in good hands!

Caring staff dr. Chet really goes the extra mile
